Green Lane, Marshall Road
We support adults recovering from mental health problems who wish to return to paid employment, voluntary work or training in the future. Our service is offered in conjunction with a separate employment advice service for clients who are more work ready.
How we help
Greenacres is a six acre garden and workshop site providing experiences in horticulture, crafts, IT and light industry. A Solar Observatory is being established amid a range of gardens including a herb nursery, and a small shop and gallery to attract the general public and potential school visits.
Wiltshire Outreach provides experiences in conservation and associated crafts at five different sites across the county. Activities vary but can include coppicing, hedging, grassland management, wildlife monitoring, greenwood turning, carving, charcoal making and blacksmithing.
By creating projects with a clear sense of purpose, we are able to provide a working environment in which clients can regain skills and confidence appropriate to a workplace.
Individuals attend weekly up to a maximum of three days. Working as part of a team, or individually, they are involved in activities that interest them and that help to develop the service/site. We draw up a clear plan with them to outline their involvement and this is regularly reviewed to make sure they are getting the best from our service and are looking ahead to opportunities beyond what we offer.
While working with us, clients are helped to develop and maintain strong ongoing partnerships with Natural England and The National Trust, Wiltshire Wildlife Trust and The Forestry Commission, Wiltshire Council and Marlborough Town Council as well as with a handful of primary schools and a local secondary school.
Who we can help
Our service is available to adults aged 18 years or over who live or work in Wiltshire and have a clearly identified mental health problem.
Referrals are welcomed from GPs, community mental health teams and any other agencies supporting people with or recovering from mental health problems. We also accept self referrals.
At the heart of everything we do lies:
- Hope: the belief that recovery is possible for every individual
- Respect: valuing differences and all contributions
- Enabling: giving people encouragement and support to achieve their goals
- Inclusion: the belief that everyone has a right to participate fully in society.
